Teran Terre Rosse Riserva

High quality dry red wine

Vineyard location and characteristics: The position of Terre Rosse near the village of Petrovija in the vicinity of the city of Umag is home the Istrian red soil where two genetically very close, yet different varieties of Teran and Refosco are grown. Both varieties have a high percentage of acids and antioxidants, thus allowing for fresh, invigorating and long-lasting wines.

Vinification and maturing: Alcohol fermentation begins at the temperature of 25 to 28°C for 10 to 15 days. The malolactic fermentation and the maturation period take place in small oak casks over the course of 36 months which help balance the initially energetic acids and tannins. What follows next is the blending and the ageing of wine in a big wooden barrel over the span of several months, finishing with an additional 6 months spent in a bottle where the wine is further matured and balanced.

Color: Dark garnet red with ruby reflection

Bouquet: Vanilla, walnut, roasted coffee, ripe black currant, plum jam, spices, forest soil and mushroom, as well as moss and traces of mint and game

Taste: Soft, warm, bold, both fresh and savory, pleasant unambiguous notes of sour cherries and plums, enjoyably smooth

Gastronomic recommendation: Istrian sausages, ombolo, prosciutto ham, game goulash, lamb under the “peka”
